Our history began in 1838 with the founding of the Westermann Verlag, which went on to publish the first DierckeAtlas in 1883. Since then, the Westermann Verlag has joined forces with a number of other publishers to form today’s Westermann Gruppe. Now we are one of Germany’s leading educational publishing groups.

As well as our comprehensive product range for schools, we also provide a broad selection of products for early learning and private study. Other members of the Westermann Gruppe create educational media for the wider German-speaking world, as well as the international market.

However, there is more to us than meets the eye. We include Arena, the children’s and young adult publisher. Alongside our respected publishing houses, the Westermann Gruppe also offers modern printing and service operations. At every stage in a book’s development – be it conception, production, sales or distribution – our services aim to put the customer at the forefront of everything we do.
