The Audio Media Verlag was founded in Munich, Gemany in January 2004 – as the result of a particularly dull car journey. Why shouldn’t drivers and passengers be entertained while travelling? Why shouldn’t they learn something useful at the same time? Audio Media was founded as an answer to these two questions, initially publishing adult non-fiction audio books under the brand “CD Wissen”.
Two years later Audio Media expanded into children’s audio books under the brand “CD Wissen Junior”. Over time, the company has also developed an extensive catalogue of fiction audio books. The collection includes German best-sellers such as Giulia Enders “Darm mit Charme” (“Charming Bowels”) – awarded a gold record after selling 100,000 copies – and crime novels from the likes of Andreas Föhr, Oliver Pötzsch, Karin Slaughter and Gisa Pauly – all featured on Spiegel magazine’s list of best-selling authors.
In recent years Audio Media has also produced audio books in collaboration with the ADAC (the General German Automobile Club) and leading German media brands, including “P.M.”, “Handelsblatt”, “Bild am Sonntag”, “Vox”, “Klassik Radio” and “Die Zeit”.
“Quality that you can hear” – guided by this motto Audio Media’s own ProfiTon Studio in Munich produces audio books for the Audio Media itself and on commission for other publishing houses and industrial clients. The Audio Media Verlag is thus able to oversee projects from conception to completion, editing and producing a finished master CD.
